This week the Green Gallery is heading to Latvia to participate in the inaugural edition of Riga Contemporary, an international art fair founded by our friends at Kim? Contemporary Art Centre—Riga’s first institution with a sustained contemporary art program. The fair includes 40 international galleries and will run July 10-13. We are proud to present work by Michelle Grabner, COBRA, and Brit Krohmer alongside Good Weather gallery (Chicago/North Little Rock),
Michelle Grabner explores the grid as both structure and symbol, reinterpreting motifs from domestic textiles. Her work reflects on the everyday through pattern and form, transforming the familiar into a space of formal contemplation. The grid becomes a vessel of memory, evoking nostalgia and intimacy while simultaneously asserting conceptual rigor.
Brit Krohmer presents archeological and theatrical sculptural wall works. Mistranslated familiar forms draw from post-industrial landscapes and the imagined residue of history. Her pieces are meditations on inherited knowledge, time-worn utility, and the poetics of rustbelt memory.
COBRA’s Story of Eggs series employs metalinguistic humor and imagined audiences—avian, no less—to stage a playful and romantic engagement with painting. These works investigate viewership and artistic process with endearing wit, turning introspection into performance.
Good Weather will be showcasing works by Ron Ewert and John Riepenhoff.
