Actual Fractals, Sculpture Milwaukee Benefit

April 11 - May 17, 2025

Images Press Release Back

The Green Gallery is delighted to present Actual Fractals, Sculpture Milwaukee Benefit. This group exhibition is an opportunity to highlight and support the efforts of Sculpture Milwaukee as they venture forward in their future programing. The show features work from artists that are part of Sculpture Milwaukee’s exhibition program this year. The following artists have generously donated works whose proceeds will benefit Sculpture Milwaukee publishing and programing: Teresa Baker, Sarah Braman, Katy Cowan, Michelle Grabner, Pao Her, Nat Pyper, Naotaka Hiro, Anish Kapoor, Izumi Kato, Erin Sherriff, and Kim Miller.

Actual Fractals, Sculpture Milwaukee Benefit further contextualizes sculpture in public space. The gallery offers an intimate encounter with artists whose work is featured elsewhere in the city at a larger scale. This transition helps to build deeper layers of understanding into a range of conditions and ideas these artists interact with. The shift in dimensionality and sometimes media also gives breadth to the range of these artists' practices that may not be seen in a single discrete work. Join us in this opportunity to further celebrate the encounter with artworks shaping the landscape of Milwaukee on a yearly basis via Sculpture Milwaukee’s innovative programing.

For more information on Sculpture Milwaukee please visit their website: www.sculpturemilwaukee.com

We hope you are able to join for an opening reception on Friday, April 11th from 1-7pm. Actual Fractals, Sculpture Milwaukee Benefit will be on view through May 17th.

Closing event, Saturday 5/17, 2-3pm

Please join The Green Gallery this Saturday, May 17th at 2pm for a free performance of Hostess Invitation, by Kim Miller. The performance is part of our current group exhibition Actual Fractals, includes six dancers and will begin outside the gallery, viewable from indoors. It will emerge and disappear for the span of an hour. Hostess Invitation asks, how do we serve the work and how does work serve us? Miller’s dynamic practice engages the body, movement and the social, via performance and video. Her work explores ideas of action, power, and agency. This will be Miller’s second performance in conjunction with our current exhibition with Sculpture Milwaukee.

We invite you to visit the gallery on the final weekend of Actual Fractals group exhibition from 1-5pm on Friday, May 16th and Saturday, May 17th. Pick-up a map at the gallery to continue your experience of Sculpture Milwaukee this weekend, or find more information about their program here: www.sculpturemilwaukee.com
